Tune-Ups
We recommend giving your bicycle a tune-up at the beginning of each season. Temperature changes throughout the year impact the cable tension that controls the derailleurs and brakes on your bike. It is important to have these cables re-tensioned each season to keep your bike shifting and braking smoothly. The following are included in a General Tune-Up:
- Gear adjustment
- Adjust Headset
- Hubs and bottom bracket are set and adjusted
- Wheels trued
- External Lubrication
- General safety inspection
- Front and rear derailleur cable tension is adjusted
- Front and rear brake cable tension is adjusted
- Brake pads are adjusted
- Bike tubes are checked for punctures and tires are inflated to proper psi
Deluxe Tune-Ups
A Deluxe Tune-up includes all General Tune-Up services AND a drivetrain overhaul. We recommend cleaning and re-lubricating your drivetrain every three to five rides, but we know it doesn’t always happen. Regardless, if you put miles on your bike, it’s a good idea to have a drivetrain overhaul once every other season, and it can make a bike ride like new. If a whole bunch of black gunk comes off when you run your finger down the chain, its time for a Deluxe Tune-Up!
