Specialized Bikes
Specialized Bicycle Company is known as a world class leader in providing innovative products to enhance the cycling experience. From road to mountain, and even their kids bikes, Specialized, is a rider focused company whose passion for cycling is evident in all of their products. As a true trailblazer, with the first ever production mountain bike, the Stumpjumper (you can see one at our Columbia store, or the Smithsonian Museum for American History), Specialized has continued to introduce revolutionary and partner with visionary companies bringing cycling to the next level.
Road Bikes
Products such as the Roubaix endurance road bike, a 5-time winner of the infamous Paris-Roubaix Race, yet perfect for centuries or favorite training ride, utilizes FACT carbon technology with Zertz inserts for extra vibration absorption, reducing rider fatigue and increasing efficiency. As the polar opposite to the Roubaix, the Venge is engineered for speed and power transmission. Aero shaping aids the Venge for those group sprints or in search of the Green jersey. Special editions of the Venge have included partnerships with perennial Formula One front runner McLaren.
Triathlon Bikes
When UCI limitations on aero bikes became increasingly redundant, Specialized focused the Shiv on the triathlete, one not shackeled by arbitrary measurements of head tubes, but dedicated to shaving those minutes off the 40K sandwiched between the kicks suffered during the swim and the hills on the run. The Shiv is the weapon of choice for World Champions and any triathlete searching to preserve their power for the last leg of the race.
Mountain Bikes
Building off of the success of the Stumpjumper, Specialized FSR suspension, found on all Specialized full suspension bikes, delivers fully active independent travel, allowing the rider to maintain traction on those rocky descents or loomy climbs. The BRAIN technology further separated FSR from the masses, providing the rider with more control by optimizing the fully active suspension by reducing movement induced by pedaling loads. Check out the cross country speedster inspired Epic to the technical trail slaying Stumpjumper EVO.
Women's Bikes
Specialized Women are pioneers in providing bikes and equipment that address the unique needs of Lady Cyclists. From the Dolce, Ruby and Amira road bikes, Safire, Myka mountain bikes, each bike is not just a smaller version of their men’s counterpart in an alternative color. The frames, components and technologies are all customized to meet the requirements of a women rider.
One of the fastest growing segments is fitness cycling. Rides of medium to century distances with an upright positioning that accommodates a wide variety of cyclists. The Sirrus, Crosstrail, Vita and Ariel models incorporate the technology gleamed from Specialized sponsorships and R&D on their road and mountain bikes. Zertz elastomer inserts reduce vibration, while FACT carbon fiber tailors the ride quality to each sized bike. This family of bikes provides the efficiencies unmatched in your traditional hybrid to help you power down the C&O canal, explore the NCR trail or cruise the Columbia bike paths.
Kids Bikes
Not to be outdone by their parents rides, the Specialized kids bikes all feature lightweight aluminum frames, low stand over heights and design aspects like a forward bottom bracket on the Hotrock 12 allowing for easier transition from tricycles.
Bike Accessories
Specialized commitment to innovation and enhancement of the rider experience does not stop at bikes; it might not even start there. Truly devoted to enhancing the equipment riders use on a daily basis Specialized helmets, shoes, performance apparel and accessories rate among the tops in the industry. One of the few companies to invest in SNELL certification for their helmets, insuring a 3rd party randomly audits production models bought from local bike shops; integrated the revolutionary BG FIT concepts (more on that in a bit) into their shoes, which also share the same FACT carbon technology found in their bikes; truly scientific BG saddles promoting proper biological function while in the saddle.
